Partial refurbishment and improvement of this old Mallorquin house, that was well in need of a little TLC.
Unfortunately, the styling of this old Mallorquin house had become somewhat convoluted due to the many changes in ownership it has had during the years, creating a styling that was neither one thing nor another.
We do like our Mallorquin origins, therefore try to stay true to the Islands styling whenever possible, albeit always trying to combine this Mallorquin heritage with a modern approach, this to include the creature comforts of the new era.
Therefore, in this partial refurbishment, we opted for traditional Mallorquin styling, noticeable in the “canto rodado” for the terraces and stone walls, as well as a modernized exterior kitchen with hanging glass cabinet, and even a beer tap, by special request of our client.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

As customary, Origen has managed the entire build with use of our local trusty tradesmen.
It has been a very complicated year due to the remaining effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, however we have managed to overcome these circumstances even though in all honesty it has caused delays in our line of work, and therefore to some of our Projects.
For this Project we have mainly concentrated on the exterior kitchen, the new terracing, the landscaping and the guest house, creating in this way a harmonious look throughout the property.

INTERIOR DESIGN

We have put a lot of effort into the overall look of the property, giving it back its Mallorquin look and character whilst updating some of the creature comforts that were in dire need.
The exterior kitchen has been totally redesigned, opening up the back wall to let in more natural light, and creating at the same time better flow around the property. A chillout area has also been implemented, with a bar style table which includes its own beer tap. The seating area has been positioned specifically so that it looks straight at the Serra de Tramuntana Mountain Range, so one can gaze upon its glory whilst enjoying a freshly poured cold beer.
All terraces have been redone using traditional Mallorquin techniques (like canto rodado pebble), and we have reused some of the existing materials to construct the terrace perimeter wall, saving costs and adding to the traditional styling. And autochthonous plants have been implemented to keep in line with the Mallorquin style.
The façade has also been retouched and repainted in a more traditional colour, though we have used our updated tone for the shutters, which gives it that slightly more up to date look.
The guesthouse has been totally redesigned and refurbished, as the client wanted to use this for their special guests. Design details have been implemented following the clients special requests also, creating a very unique styling.
The garden and landscape have also been updated to improve the overall look of the property and “smarten” it up a little. The use of Corten steel plates to separate the green areas from the drive has been one of the main implementations in these areas, as well as the exterior ambient lighting.
